We demand equal rights and equal treatment so that everyone can thrive, not just survive.Senior Policy Advisor, Global Economic ChangeEmployees can work remotely from a Global South location where Oxfam has the ability to hire.Job DescriptionPURPOSE OF THE POSITIONThe Senior Policy Advisor for Global Economic Change will shape and support Oxfam’s policy and narrative change efforts to tackle inequality within and between countries internationally. The Senior Policy Advisor will work on two major areas: first is to collaborate with others on global post-neoliberalism thinking; second is to help drive Oxfam’s thinking and narrative change on public goods that reduce inequality. They will do so by thinking strategically, preparing compelling analysis, providing organizational expertise, engaging policymakers, monitoring inequality trends, and collaborating with colleagues at Oxfam America, the wider Oxfam Confederation, and external allies.COORDINATES WITHPrimarily working with teams across Oxfam America (OUS) Advocacy, Alliances and Policy Division, and with Oxfam International colleagues, especially those engaged on public goods and services and strategic policy areas. This role will also work with OUS Media and Digital teams in the Public Engagement Division.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide policy expertise and guidance for a newly initiated program of work on global post-neoliberal economic thinking.Advance an ambitious agenda in support of public goods and services.Prepare and support the drafting of papers and materials that analyze core issues relevant to tackling inequality.Conceive and deliver strategic work to drive public narrative change on core issues.Support engagement with influential figures and policymakers to secure policy outcomes.Engage in convenings that Oxfam is holding on post-neoliberal thinking.Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and colleagues.Support and shape Oxfam America’s thinking on economic and racial inequality.Monitor the political and economic landscape pertaining to global post-neoliberalism.Work with teams across the Oxfam confederation to shape strategic planning regarding economic inequality.Perform other duties as assigned.POSITION EXPECTATIONSStay abreast of professional standards, trends, and issues affecting responsibilities.Develop work plan in collaboration with the Economic & Racial Justice Department.Work effectively and collaboratively in support of a team-based culture.Commit to promoting gender justice, racial equity, and diversity.Accountable for activities contributing towards a safe and accountable workplace environment.LOCATION

Flexible, preference for global south country.POSITION DURATIONThis is a fixed term position through the end of February 2027, with the possibility of renewal.EDUCATIONAdvanced degree in economics, international relations, public policy, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.EXPERIENCE AND CORE COMPETENCIESAt least 4-6 years of experience working on inequality-related or economic justice issues.Relevant experience in policy advocacy and understanding of inequality-related policies.Fluency in English.Strong research and analytical skills relevant to public policy.Experience with public goods and services, financialization, and/or privatization.Demonstrated ability to articulate complex economic justice analysis.Excellent organizational and administrative skills.Strong ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, multicultural team.Excellent oral communication skills and effective writing abilities.Creative and strategic thinker, able to advance economic justice-related policies.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSProficiency in one or more of the following languages preferred: French, Portuguese, Spanish.Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter by September 16, 2024.Oxfam offers competitive compensation and salary ranges vary by location.Oxfam America is a Gender Just organization and an equal opportunity employer.
