for the Arkansas-Oklahoma Divisional Headquarters, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Job SummaryManages and administers estate and trust estate gifts that benefit The Salvation Army, Arkansas and Oklahoma Division, and its constituent entities; arranges for legal counsel to assist The Salvation Army, Arkansas and Oklahoma Division, as needed in the estate process, e.g., mediations, trials, estate counsel, etc.; coordinates with legal consultants organized in monitoring and managing the estate process of certain estates and trusts of which The Salvation Army is beneficiary. Also assists in the coordination including consultation with the General Secretary and the HR Director, on all legal issues to include reviewing Subpoenas, lawsuits, etc. and coordinates with Bo-MC on all Mineral Rights Issues.

Plans, coordinates, supervises, evaluates, and participates in the administration of a broad range of legal documents requiring paralegal oversight to support the Texas Division specializing estate and trust estate gifts, employment matters and commercial contracts. Serves as liaison with legal counsel and provides paralegal assistance between Legal Counsel, Governmental Agencies, Divisional Headquarters and Territorial Headquarters. Assists all field offices with training/knowledge of the proper administration of legal documents. May supervise and coordinate activities of support staff.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesManages and administers estate and trust estate gifts that benefit The Salvation Army, Arkansas and Oklahoma Division, and its constituent entities.Arranges for legal counsel to assist The Salvation Army, Arkansas and Oklahoma Division, as needed in the estate process, e.g., mediations, trials, estate counsel, etc.Researches and examines law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, EEOC charges, wills, agency complaints, contracts, buy-sell agreements, closing papers, deeds, and trust instruments for review, approval, and use by Attorney.Reviews all subpoenas and lawsuits received within the Division, coordinates appropriately, monitors, and gathers facts along with documentation, prepares recommendations for the Divisional Finance Board and Board of Trustees.Tracks all legal cases and required responses along with the associated deadlines in order to ensure all involved parties and documents are ready as scheduled and required for compliance.Investigates facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.Participates in mediations on behalf of The Salvation Army when assigned.Coordinates with legal counsel organized in monitoring and managing the estate process of certain estates and trusts of which The Salvation Army is beneficiary.Prepares recommendations for distributions in a timely fashion upon receipt of the copy of the Will or Trust for the estate.Communicates and cooperates with the various Adult Rehabilitation Centers serving throughout the Arkansas and Oklahoma Division.Liquidates estate gifts in kind such as real property, mobile homes and trailers, and collectibles.Ensures all mineral right information is entered and tracked in database.Conducts all duties in accordance with the prevailing state and local legal standards for administration of estates.Education and ExperienceAssociate Degree from an accredited college or university in paralegal studies or equivalent formal paralegal education with a Paralegal Certification is required with a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies preferred.ANDThree years’ progressively responsible paralegal work experience with specialized experience in estate/probate, employment law, and contract administration are required with supervisory experience preferred,ORAny equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Certifications/LicensesNotary Public Certification and Paralegal or Legal Assistant Certification are required.Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsAbility to exhibit a caring and sensitive attitude toward all persons involved with the probate or estate administration process.Ability to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of people and remain sensitive to their concerns.Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Salvation Army officers, employees, members of advisory organizations, and the community.Ability to read and interpret policies/procedures, legal documents, and requirements to ensure compliance.Ability to administer budgets and monitor expenditures for compliance.Ability to organize efficiently and maintain legal files and records.Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints.Ability to establish goals and objectives and monitor their effective implementation.Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment and exercise confidentiality.Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army.Duties are usually performed seated with limited physical effort required.Additional Comments:All employees recognize The Salvation Army is a church and agree that they will do nothing as an employee of The Salvation Army to undermine its religious mission.To apply, please select the "Apply Now" icon at the bottom of this posting.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled.
