Job Description SummaryThe Director of Institutional Research (DIR) reports to the Provost’s Office and has administrative management responsibilities for the Office of Institutional Research, including leadership, direction, and performance management of staff. The DIR provides expertise and leadership in the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of institutional data to support data informed decision-making and institutional effectiveness. The DIR will collaborate closely with campus leadership, faculty, and staff to provide comprehensive analysis and reporting on various aspects of our institution’s operations, student outcomes, and academic programs.Specific DutiesCulture of Inquiry and Evidence 20%• Develop and implement a strategic vision for institutional research aligned with the institution’s academic mission and goals.• Disseminate information and research findings to campus, departments, and units via data visualization methods and story-telling pertaining to student outcomes.• Provide venues for teaching, learning, dialogue, and self-reflection of institutional information for campus constituents.• Prepare and present clear, actionable reports to campus leadership, faculty, and other stakeholders.• Collaborate closely with Institutional Effectiveness, Continuous Improvement, IT, and other members of the campus in support of the creation of data visualization tools (e.g., analytics, materials) and the practice of data literacy, data governance, and institutional effectiveness.Data Collection, Analysis, Research, and Evaluation 20%• Provide staff support, guidance, and direction for data collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from internal and external surveys and other sources as well as develop tracking systems related to student enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and other key metrics.• Ensure data integrity and accuracy through robust data governance practices.• Conduct research on emerging trends and best practices in institutional research and higher education.• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives through quantitative and qualitative methods.Compliance and Accreditation 20%• Ensure compliance with government and agency regulations (e.g., IPEDS, NCAA, CDS, WSCUC) related to institutional research and reporting requirements.• Support accreditation processes by providing data and evidence of institutional effectiveness.• Provide support for the provision of data and benchmarks to internal and external (e.g., college publishers) requests for institutional information.Data Governance 15%• In collaboration with IT, Institutional Effectiveness, Continuous Improvement, and other offices, contribute to the development of a data governance system/structure and build best practices for the campus.• Participate in quality assurance processes and projects to improve data integrity.Survey Management, Training & Coordination 15%• Lead the development and execution of policies and procedures concerning the administration of surveys about the students’ experience.• Establish the IR department as internal consultant and clearinghouse for survey development, data analysis, and Qualtrics, the university’s online survey tool. This includes oversight of an online training system for survey administrators.• Provide educational resources to campus on survey development, data collection, use of data, analysis, and dissemination of information and how information can be used for continuous improvement.Staff Management & Development 5%• Supervise, coach and develop IR staff in their professional development and create opportunities for growth. Conduct performance evaluations for staff members.• Stay abreast of best practices in the field of institutional research and seek to incorporate these practices into university operations whenever prudent.Other duties as assigned 5%Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications5 years of experience in an institutional research or related field.1 year of experience in a data governance body and institution-wide data governance efforts.1 year of experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g. Ellucian Banner) or Data Warehouses (e.g. Operational Data Store (ODS) or Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)).5 years of experience with leading organizational change efforts in an institution of higher learning or similar setting.5 years of experience leading institutional project teams involving individuals from a variety of departments.Preferred QualificationsExperience with the various facets of information technology, and knowledge management support systems.Experience serving on accreditation self-study teams, and/or experience serving on a visiting accreditation team.Experience with regional or professional accreditation processes.Doctorate in a related discipline is desirable.3 years’ working experience in Ellucian’s Banner ERP, Operational Data Store (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and report generation and authentication skillset.2 years’ experience in the creation, updating, and in effective usage of Cognos (report writing tool).Complete Application, Cover Letter, Resume
