At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living. The Senior Director, US Sales Compensation is responsible for overall strategic commission design, commission execution oversight/management, payout and commission communications.

What will you be doing?Responsible for actively leading in commission design sessions with the leadership team and working with team to translate the outputs into a written commission plan and/or commission program documentOverall plan development includes both strategic direction and financial modelling capabilities to ensure any plan changes drive the company objectives on both the top and bottom line.Responsible for partnering with internal stakeholders to develop new and creative commission programs and/or commission plan elements that resonate with agents; align with corporate objectives and enhance the overall agent experienceResponsible for maintaining and evolving all existing commission plan documents and developing new commission plan documents as needed; this includes comparing to the prior year prior season and identifying all deltas and working with the leadership team to drive final decisionsResponsible for partnering directly with the analytics team to ensure commission plan designs can be supported implemented and scaled thereby supporting timely and accurate commission paymentsResponsible for leading the Manager commission process including target setting across all agent levels; maintenance of an accurate manager listing; and regular reviews of data to ensure trending is reasonable and appropriate in advance of lock downResponsible for leading highly effective and efficient cross-functional stand up meetings with the internal cross functional team to drive accurate complete and timely commission payouts to Sales Agents Sales Managers and Senior Sales ManagersServe as the primary liaison to the commission implementation team and provide detailed updates regarding commission changes to guide their implementation updates and changesAccountable for administering commission programs and perks for select groups of agents in accordance with the plan designDevelop content as appropriate for the cross-functional weekly commission Forum meetingResponsible for developing and/or presenting sales facing communications (emails policies or presentations) outlining commission plan changesServe as a primary point of contact for the Sales Directors and ensure prompt and accurate resolution of escalationsIdentify operational efficiencies including self-service tools and work cross functionally to implement and drive overall efficiencies throughout the variable commission process across levels and employee typesLeverage strong analytical skills business knowledge and financial acumen to evaluate variable commission outputs for reasonablenessAbility to synthesize and summarize data into executive summaries that is easy to consume and clearly relays pertinent pointsTeam Development & ManagementThis leadership role will be responsible for recruiting, retaining, and developing a team of Directors, Managers, and other professionals. Passion for leading people, including the ability to work with diverse skill sets; and shown success building, coaching and developing high performing teams.Location:

What will you need to be successful?10 years demonstrated compensation leadership preferably in the orthopaedic commercial market or 7 plus years in sales compensation, plus tried management experience at the Director level capacity.Ability to lead 2-4 direct reports / 8 indirect reportsStrong business and financial acumenStrong communication skills (written and verbal) including group presentationsCreative problem solver with the ability to articulate financial and agent experience impactsSelf-motivated with a strong sense of urgencyRobust analytical skills required to understand the impact of commission changes and review datasets for reasonableness and commission plan complianceHighly organized with a demonstrated ability to drive priorities and accountability throughout the commission process that crosses several functional areas with critical timelines and activitiesAbility to thrive in a fast paced environment with challenging prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skills required to design and present commission plans to the Sales Team in a factual yet compelling mannerAbility to review data files for accuracy in comparison to variable commission plans by Position and LevelAbility to influence teams and matrix manage internal resourcesTime management skills to adhere to strict deadlinesShown ability to successfully run multiple projects in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgencyWillingness to “roll up sleeves” to perform at all levels and assist in areas outside of core responsibilitiesExcellent verbal, written and presentation skillsTravel:
