A law firm is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney or Senior Counsel with extensive experience in the energy industry to join its dynamic team in Madison, WI. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters related to electricity, utilities, and renewables. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the firm's energy clients, leveraging their expertise in state and federal utility regulations, and representing energy companies in negotiations and power purchase agreements.Duties and Responsibilities

Provide legal counsel on regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters in the energy industry.Represent energy companies and large industrial users in negotiations and power purchase agreements with utilities.Advise clients on the regulation of utilities at both state and federal levels.Manage and lead complex legal projects independently and within a team setting.Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, fostering trust and collaboration.Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and legal developments affecting the energy sector.Mentor and guide junior attorneys, contributing to their professional development.Participate in firm initiatives, contributing to business development and client relationship management.Requirements

Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the energy industry.Demonstrated regulatory experience in energy, including electricity, utilities, and renewables.Proven track record of supporting clients in the energy industry with regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters.Extensive knowledge of state and federal utility regulations.Experience representing energy companies and industrial users in negotiations and power purchase agreements.Strong litigation, regulatory, and legislative expertise in the energy and/or extractive industries.Excellent academic credentials, including a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.Admission to the State Bar (Wisconsin preferred or ability to become admitted promptly).Skills and Abilities
