POSITION SUMMARY:

Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA) is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join their team. The Human Resources Manager will manage employee recruitment, compensation and benefits, personnel policies, regulatory compliance, and facilitate a positive work environment for all staff. The ideal candidate is a dynamic professional skilled in building and managing relationships with a wide range of individuals. The new team member should be helpful, empathetic, creative, collaborative, and organized with proven understanding of California employment law and HR practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Manage employee recruitment through job postings, resume review, interviews, and hiring.

Coordinate offer letters, compensation packages, benefit review, and all aspects of onboarding for new employees.

Oversee all employee benefits enrollment including open enrollment, new employee enrollment, etc.

Manage any EDD, worker’s compensation, and other claims as needed.

Manage employee relations and retention by engaging in conversations with staff, identifying issues, developing performance improvement plans, job analysis, and other resources to support employees.

Coordinate consistent performance reviews of all staff in partnership with the management team.

Maintain knowledge of California employment law and HR policies.

Coordinate annual updates of the employee handbook.

Develop HR policies and procedures that align with agency goals and state regulations.

Assign and coordinate staff trainings required.

Ensure compliance with all state and federal labor laws and regulations.

Create activities and celebrations that support a positive work environment.

Support CEO in additional responsibilities as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of HR experience.

Experience with ADP Workforce Now employee record and payroll system.

Experience working with union and non-union employees.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel required.

Personal commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

Must be organized, strategic, and forward-thinking with a strong attention to detail.

Ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Upbeat personality and sense of humor strongly appreciated!

Short Fridays: close early on Fridays every week (3:30 PM)
