Senior Director of Privacy Counsel

Wilmington office of our client seeks a senior director of privacy counsel with 5 years of work experience in a law firm or in corporate legal and/or privacy compliance. The candidate will provide counseling and strategic advice on a broad range of issues such as data privacy laws, Software MSAs / SaaS agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and partnership agreements.

Responsibilities include:

Reviewing, revising, and negotiating various commercial transactions related to the Firm's products and services.

Providing strategic legal counsel and advice on privacy regulation.

Monitoring changes in Privacy and Data Protection laws and regulations globally to ensure adaptation and compliance.

Working closely with the executive team and assisting in legal issues.

Collaborating with engineering/implementation teams and clients to ensure compliance with privacy laws.

Providing guidance to clients' legal and compliance teams pre and post-implementation stages to ensure that data privacy and data security requirements and controls are understood and implemented seamlessly.

Developing privacy training materials for customers.

Working closely with graphic design and marketing teams in developing white papers and other informational assets related to data privacy laws and best practices.

Participating in pre-sales meetings and strategy sessions with senior client executives and helping articulate the Firm's value proposition and regulatory risks associated with non-compliance.

Conducting webinars and giving presentations on CCPA, GDPR, and other privacy laws.

Qualifications include:

Must be an active, good-standing membership in at least one U.S. State Bar.

Prior hands-on work experience counseling, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating MSAs, Technology / SaaS agreements, such as licensing, services, consumer technology, information technology, consulting, marketing, and partnership agreements.

Must hold at least one Data Protection or Privacy certification such as CIPP, CIPT, ISEB, etc.

Strong knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy regulations is required.

A good understanding of major privacy frameworks and evolving legislation within the U.S. and worldwide is needed.

Hands-on technology experience is a plus.
