About ACCESS College FoundationACCESS College Foundation was established in 1988 to administer the ACCESS program, helping underprivileged students in South Hampton Roads gain access to college education through financial aid and scholarships.

Over 36 years, the ACCESS College Foundation has assisted more than 85,000 students, awarding $865 million in financial aid and scholarships. The Foundation's “Last-Dollar” Scholarship has provided $16 million to bridge the gap in college costs for students.

The organization continues to support students through its College and Career Success Program, ensuring that ACCESS Scholars thrive in college, with a retention rate of 92% after two years.

Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesACCESS College Foundation seeks an inspiring and visionary leader to serve as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will manage a staff of nearly 50 and lead the strategic growth of the Foundation, expanding its impact on students.

Executive Leadership

Complete the 2023-2027 strategic planning cycle and develop subsequent strategies.

Foster a positive organizational culture aligned with mission and values.

Partner with the Vice President of Finance and Administration and the Board on budget management.

Represent ACCESS at organizational events and industry happenings.

Recruit, oversee, and evaluate staff to promote growth.

External Engagement

Manage and grow organizational fundraising efforts.

Create and execute a fundraising strategy to develop new revenue channels.

Serve as ACCESS’ primary ambassador across its geographical footprint.

Develop operational plans to increase awareness and social media presence.

Oversee capital campaigns and partnership development.

Board Engagement

Advise the Board of Directors and ensure timely information for decision-making.

Partner with the Board on donor opportunities.

Recognize and attract new Board members.

Professional Experience/QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:

15+ years’ experience in a leadership role in non-profit, education, or for-profit sectors.

Strong business and financial acumen.

Experience in fundraising and relationship development.

Exceptional communication skills.

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Experience working with Boards of Directors.

Integrity and transparency.

EducationAn undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

CompensationThe annual compensation is approximately $300,000, including salary and bonus, with additional benefits.
