What this job involves

The Labs Director will oversee a team responsible for providing lab programming, planning, project management, engineering, and operational support for the entire life-cycle of lab requests to lab operations. You will serve as lab facilities subject matter experts to support all client lab research & development needs.

Responsibilities:

Provide oversight and management for all lab requests throughout the various stages and provide up to date status reporting.Provide statistics on lab requests to support detailed business operation models, supporting the most efficient use of resources and help to accelerate speed to market needs. Engineering, operational, and project cost statistical analysis will be requested on a regular basis.Act as the lab subject matter expert, on behalf of the client, and implement and execute the Client Lab Program framework and guidelines. Consult with client lab stakeholders throughout each lab request step. Provide options and alternatives along with the associated positive and negative implications for each suggested option.Set up and maintain explicit and timely communications within JLL's own resources for engineering consulting, lab planners, lab project managers, and lab operations services.Maintain lab data integrity through various means and methods to ensure lab characteristics data is accurate and up to date, corresponding to the most relevant Client Product Area allocation plans.Maintain an accurate asset registry and database of all lab supporting infrastructure within assigned buildings. Ensure any changes and updates to the lab supporting infrastructure database are captured.Continually review and analyze lab supporting infrastructure databases to understand utilization, capacities, and capability limitations. Utilize this information to support due diligence and programming of lab requests.Maintain a comprehensive lab equipment design database along with the corresponding equipment product data sheets to leverage infrastructure and seismic design on equipment performed on projects so they could be used when appropriate.Refer to and utilize Client Technical Services Lab Design Guides for guidance on lab design and performance requirements. Work with Client Technical Services personnel to continually update Lab Design Guides to ensure they are as accurate as possible.Have access to engineering expertise to advise and consult on the best solutions and offer an approach with means & methods to achieve solutions to fulfill lab requests.Maintain oversight of RFP development for design and construction services with third-party vendors.Provide lab planner expertise to create lab test fits and programming summary solutions.Develop continuous improvement processes around client project intake, review, and delivery for increased efficiency in service delivery.Possess ability to support change management as changes impact cost and schedule.Oversee all lab projects for on-time delivery and management of lab projects budgets.

Desired experience and technical skills requiredMinimum of 15 years of recent experience in Engineering, Design, or Construction.Must be proficient in reviewing and commenting on Design Intent Drawings and As-Built Drawings.Must have some cost estimating experience.Experience in managing capital forecasting and cash flow.Able to partner with other business lines to achieve a goal.Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management.
