Job Description
Replacing or installing new roofing systems on buildings and customizing materials for individual roofsEnsuring that roofing materials are aligned with edges of roofsCementing or nailing flashing-strips of metal or shingle over joints to ensure that they are watertightCritically inspecting a room to determine the best repair or replacement procedure for itInspecting the work area to ensure that all required materials are presentEnsuring that materials are properly trimmed to tightly fit along the edges of a roof and altering materials as neededSmoothing and leveling roof surfaces by smoothing out rough spots and preparing a surface for new shingles or waterproofing
Ensuring that the job location is neat and safe by cleaning it up once the job is completed.
Qualifications and skills:
High school diploma or GEDSuccessful completion of a roofing apprenticeship program2+ years of experience in roofing, construction, or carpentryValid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation Must have required insurance for vehicle required.Must own truck or van to carry ladders, tools, and materials.Ability to use power tools and equipmentAbility to lift and carry 50+ pounds of materials and toolsAbility to sit, stand, kneel, climb, lift, and climb stairs and laddersAbility to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditionsSure, footing and ability to work at multi-story heightsStrong work ethic and positive attitudeKnowledge of roofing systems and related local ordinancesCan work independently and as part of a team environment
Can communicate well (multiple languages are a plus)

Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.May require occasional bending, squatting, and reaching.Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
