DescriptionUnder the general direction of the Manager of Support Services, Admin Nurse, Asst. Dir Nursing & Operations OR and the Hospital Lab Tech Supervisor, the Patient Specialty Services Tech's primary function is to assist the anesthesiologist in:

Preparation of equipment needed to administer anesthesia

Setting up invasive lines for patient monitoring

Performing cell saving procedures

Setting up laser and video equipment and assisting in laser procedures

Setting up other O.R. equipment

Performing clerical and coordinating duties as assigned by Patient Specialty Services Tech supervisor and RN charge nurse

Working hours primarily days will be expected to rotate shifts, and cover call, weekends, nights and holidays. Function as a member of a team. Inherent duties include but are not limited to:

Proper care of instrumentation and equipment

Utilization of all safety measures

Accurate completion of all documentation

Qualifications2 years of experience as an Anesthesia tech required.

Experience with Rapid Transfuser and invasive intravenous patient lines required. Anesthesia Technician Certification preferred.

Writing skills for accurate documentation, skills in setting priorities, organizing workload effectively, and integrating multiple assignments with multilevel personnel are essential. Skill in speaking the English language with medical/surgical terminology is important.

Ability to comply with department standards inclusive of:

Attendance

Dress code

Varied work schedule

Current CPR certification required. Knowledge of Infection control and health surveillance, OSHA, Universal Precautions, Waste Management, handling of hazardous substances, and Medical Device Act is necessary.

Ability to meet physical requirements of the job relating to lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing 50lbs. or more. Extensive walking, standing, and manual dexterity in operating equipment are required. A strong electronics background is recommended, as well as experience with anesthesia machines.
