Description

Under the general direction of the Manager of Support Services, Admin Nurse, Asst. Dir Nursing & Operations OR, and the Hospital Lab Tech Supervisor, the Patient Specialty Services Tech's primary function is to assist the anesthesiologist in preparation of equipment needed to administer anesthesia. Responsibilities include:

Setting up invasive lines for patient monitoring.

Performing cell saving procedures.

Setting up laser and video equipment and assisting in laser procedures.

Setting up other O.R. equipment.

Performing clerical and coordinating duties as assigned by the Patient Specialty Services Tech supervisor and RN charge nurse.

Working hours are primarily days, but will be expected to rotate shifts and cover call, weekends, nights, and holidays. Functioning as a member of a team, inherent duties include, but are not limited to, proper care of instrumentation and equipment, utilization of all safety measures, and accurate completion of all documentation.

Qualifications

Required:

2 years of experience as an Anesthesia tech.

Experience with Rapid Transfuser and invasive intravenous patient lines.

Current CPR certification.

Preferred:

Anesthesia Technician Certification.

Writing skills for accurate documentation.

Skills in setting priorities, organizing workload effectively, and integrating multiple assignments with multilevel personnel. Additionally, skills required include:

Speaking English language with medical/surgical terminology.

Ability to comply with department standards inclusive of attendance, dress code, and varied work schedule.

Knowledge of Infection control and health surveillance, OSHA, Universal Precautions, Waste Management, handling of hazardous substances, and the Medical Device Act.

Ability to meet physical requirements of the job, relating to lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing 50lbs or more. Extensive walking, standing, and manual dexterity in operating equipment.

Strong electronics background recommended as well as experience with anesthesia machines.
