This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Health Information Services Department and the Central Telephone Operations/Reception Desk. This position is responsible for the proper management of the information/communication that is a vital part of the facility's mission to facilitate the patient's successful return to the community.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Experience: Six years of experience compiling and maintaining health records.Notes:Candidates may substitute the possession of an Associate of Arts degree in Medical Records Sciences from an accredited college or university and four years of experience compiling and maintaining health records for the required experience.Candidates may substitute the possession of a current registration as a Registered Health Information Technician by the American Health Information Management Association for two years of the required experience.Candidates may substitute two years of experience supervising employees engaged in health records processing and maintenance in a health records program for a health care facility or program for two years of the required experience.Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Medical Record classifications or Patient Administration Specialists and Health Services Management specialty codes in the health records management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:The desired candidate should possess the following:Experience with medical records, maintenance, preservation, HIPAA, and both paper and electronic health records.Experience supervising others within a medical record department.Experience with accreditation and oversight of regulatory agencies such as TJC, CMS, OHCQ, and DRM.SELECTION PROCESS:Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation.
