The Ute Tribe Water Systems Director will plan, organize, direct, and review the activities of the drinking water, wastewater, and garbage operations for the Ute Tribe, ensuring the environmental health of all users by following all regulatory operations and procedural guidelines.Responsible for the quality of water that goes out to the public.Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies, ensuring that all testing, reporting, and compliance related to water, wastewater, solid waste, and public health and safety are met.Must be updated on water codes set by the EPA.Supervise, train, instruct, and motivate employees.Must be able to communicate with health officers, project engineers, and other agencies involved to solve problems that might arise.Review and advise staff at various phases of work and give them specific support as needed.Plan, direct, coordinate, supervise, and review the work of assigned crews in scattered locations engaged in water and/or wastewater maintenance, repair, installation, and construction.Develop and implement improvements to systems and operations, which can improve the operational effectiveness of the department and meet the needs of the community.Supervise, mentor, and plan with program staff under the supervision of the Water System/Environmental Health Department, including corrective action as needed.Provide and maintain detailed monthly reports to the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director.Handle all public relations on matters concerning the water system, connection requests, contract work, dissatisfied customers, etc.Responsible for seeking funding opportunities for improvement projects, including Indian Health Service (I.H.S) to obtain funds for needed projects.
