By joining our rapidly growing Accounting Advisory practice, with a dedicated focus on our national Government Contracting Industry, you will serve as a trusted partner to our clients that serve the federal government and its agencies. You’ll bring your first-hand experience, unique perspectives, and functional knowledge to deliver tailored integrated solutions that help our clients solve today's challenges across the dynamic aerospace, defense and government landscape and drive value creation.As a Director at CrossCountry Consulting, you will be responsible for a mix of client delivery, business development/account management, leading teams and developing junior team members, as well as serving as a member of CrossCountry’s leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for a finance and accounting professional to become part of our growing Government Contracting Industry team that is focused on applying their expertise to support clients serving our nation’s most critical missions.What You'll Do:
Leverage your expertise in US GAAP, the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) principles and regulations, to guide clients through complex accounting, reporting and compliance considerations.Apply knowledge of leading business processes (e.g., Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Financial Planning and Close, etc.) and the DFARS business systems, and the cross-functional dependency on the business and other functional teams (CIO) needed to implement government contracting best practices.Analyze direct and indirect cost rate structures, identify gaps, and recommend improvements aligned with government contractor regulations and industry standards.Advise and prepare incurred cost proposals and submissions upon request from client.Support various projects, including compliance program implementation, system strategy, process improvement, performance enhancement, change management, project management, data analytics, and business analysis, to provide long-term value.Develop thought leadership on art of the possible and future ready concepts for government contractors, such as authoring articles or presentations on the government contracting landscape, regulatory and compliance trends, audit readiness and transformation.Shape the strategic direction of the Government Contracting Industry practice by monitoring trends, identifying opportunities, and creating new services.Collaborate with CrossCountry and client teams to address business obstacles, taking personal ownership of engagements to deliver high-quality, practical, and impactful solutions.Oversee teams and individuals, monitor and guide performance in alignment with objectives, and address issues, risks, and conflicts as they arise.Actively contribute to talent acquisition and retention efforts, participating in attracting, interviewing, and hiring top talent who embody our core values.Provide senior account and project-level leadership by ensuring high-quality delivery, nurturing relationships, and driving business development efforts to market and expand full-scale services to prospective clients, leveraging existing relationships to generate new opportunities.What You'll Bring:
12+ years’ experience in professional services advising government contractors, or a combination of consulting and industry experience in aerospace, defense and government contracting.Experience at and/or direct interaction with government contractor regulators, including the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) or Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), preferred.Demonstrated knowledge and command of FAR, DFARS, CAS and/or other federal contracting regulations.Proven record of building and developing strong client relationships with C-level executives, including experience selling to and delivering for senior executive client leaders.Understanding of end-to-end Office of CFO (FP&A, Accounting, Government Compliance, etc.).Experience mentoring and developing junior team members and helping project teams resolve complex and multi-faceted issues.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related area of study from an accredited university.Prior experience in professional services (public accounting, advisory firm, or management consulting firm).CPA, preferred; MBA a plus.
