The City of St. Peters is seeking a motivated professional with senior HR leadership experience and a passion for developing people to be their best, to be our next Director of Human Resources. This position will lead and manage the activities and operations of our Human Resources Department. This role is integral to the success of our organization, requiring experience and understanding of HR operations, as well as strong leadership, organization, decision-making, collaboration, and communication skills.

Normal Shift: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Key Objectives:

As the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for guiding the department and ensuring the smooth execution of all HR functions. You will work closely with the City Administrator, management team, and employees to address a wide range of HR matters, from policy interpretation to employee relations and benefits administration.

What You'll Do:

Lead and mentor the HR team, fostering a culture of growth and development.

Oversee key HR functions, including employee recruitment, training, compensation, benefits, and payroll.

Act as a key advisor to the City's leadership on HR policies, personnel law, and disciplinary matters.

Manage relationships with legal counsel and third-party administrators for various employee programs.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Participate in the hiring and termination processes, providing expert guidance and support.

Contribute to budget preparation and monitor departmental expenditures to align with financial goals.

Lead training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities.

Serve as a representative of the City in employee committee meetings, promoting open communication and feedback.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in a senior Human Resources role with supervision responsibilities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience across various Human Resource functions, including recruitment, employee relations, salary and benefits administration, compliance, training, and staff development.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Considerable knowledge of software systems related to Human Resources and related data analysis and metrics.
