DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Family and Community Engagement Senior Program Director (FACE), the Volunteer Coordinator will lead efforts to recruit, train, retain, and measure volunteers. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with YMCA staff facilitating programs at Sulphur Springs PK-8 Community Partnership School, as well as with school staff, to identify volunteer needs, and to create requisitions that match needs. The Coordinator will be primarily responsible for managing the application process to include interviews, background checks and trainings the digital platform.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Program Quality and GrowthCreate requisitions to secure volunteers for Sulphur Springs YMCAProcess volunteers in compliance with organizational policies, communicating with applicants and monitoring the progress of applicationsEnsure volunteers are trained on organizational and school policies, and receive appropriate training for the assignment.Utilize data systems to collect number of individuals engaged, hours served, and number of opportunitiesCollaborate with school staff to promote HCPS volunteer application when appropriate, and to collect data regarding clearance and hours servedDevelop strong marketing and communication strategies to engage individuals, groups and organizations for volunteer efforts. Communicate opportunities with existing volunteers for continued engagementDevelop and implement volunteer stewardship plan, in collaboration with program directors.Operations/Team LeadershipCommunicates effectively with program directors and school staff to be knowledgeable of volunteer needs and opportunitiesKeeps all volunteers on task through communicating clearly about assignment details and objectives.Creates and maintains meaningful and impactful relationships with individuals, groups, and organizationsAttends and participates in workshops, in-service training and other meetings to acquire and communicate information.Act as primary administrator for volunteerism at the Sulphur Springs YMCAPerform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Safety and Risk ManagementEnsures all Tampa Y standards and best practices are implemented and followed. Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.Ensures the health and safety of all members/guests.Inspect physical space to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of facilitiesRequirementsEducation/ Experience Required:Must be at least 18 years of age.High School Diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of two years of community engagement or volunteer recruitment experience.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to follow safety procedures.Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.Proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Bilingual preferredHighly motivated with the consistent ability to meet or exceed goals, cultivate and retain program participants.Exceptional relationship management experience and capacity to develop effective working relationships with people from a variety of different ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual and generational backgrounds.Ability to work effectively with others.Consistently self-driven and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results.Certifications/Trainings Required:Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in Community CPR and First Aid.Maintain other required certifications.Must attend all mandatory trainings/meetings
