Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA StatusNon-ExemptJob Role SummaryThe Inventory Technician maintains accurate inventory counts in stocking locations and evaluates inventory levels, recommending adjustments based on historical supply use and the needs of patient care areas. The Inventory Technician reports to the Supervisor and/or Manager of Receiving and Distribution.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesProactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's Mission: Advocate, Care, Teach, and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health's values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and ExcellenceMaintains accurate inventory counts in stocking location(s) as assigned by the Manager or his/her designee ("Manager") and in compliance with policies and proceduresAssembles specialty carts as assigned; delivers supplies and equipment to all patient care areas as assignedEvaluates inventory levels and recommends adjustments based on historical supply use and the needs of the patient care areaCommunicates recommended inventory level adjustments, stock outs and back order status to appropriate Nursing staff representative and ManagerUses handheld barcode scanning device(s) to order and/or issue supplies for the assigned stocking location(s)Conducts cycle counts on a regular basis of all JIT and special order supplies as directed by the ManagerChecks and regularly rotates supplies with expiration dates to the front of the storage location; removes outdated (expired) supplies from inventory stocking location(s) and disposes of them per manufacturer's instructionsMaintains orderly, clean, and organized inventory locationsJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to read, write and perform basic math functionsInventory/stockroom related experience preferredPrefer knowledge of medical terminology and medical suppliesAbility to operate powered pallet trucks and portable hydraulic equipmentAbility to use personal computer and various software applications including: Microsoft Word and ExcelStrong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to follow written and verbal instructionsDetail-oriented with proven organizational and problem-solving skillsActively participates in staff in-service educational program when requiredAccredited by The Joint Commission and named as one of Indiana's best employers by Forbes magazine for two consecutive years and the top hospital in the state for community benefit by the Lown Institute, Eskenazi Health's programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community.
