Additional patient populations served by the labor nurse include ante-partum, post partum/newborn, and post-gynecological.The registered nurse employs critical thinking to integrate objective data with knowledge gained from an assessment of the subjective experiences of patients. Registered nurses use this critical thinking process to apply the best available evidence and research data to the processes of diagnosis and treatment.Nurses continually evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and seek to optimize outcomes. Medical/clinical knowledge, technical and clinical skills, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills and communication as indicated in the current Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals are essential components of nursing practice.All registered nurses practice within the scopes and standards of practice set forth by the American Nurses Association.This position is represented by CNA and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.#RN@DHQualifications:Minimum:1 year of the last 2 years, recent experience as an RN in Labor and Delivery, or as an RN in an acute care setting and successful completion of applicable clinical and didactic SRDH specialty training program.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.RN = Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada.CT CPRBLS = AHA Basic Life Support-Nat'lCT NRP = Neonatal Resuscitation-Nat'l.CT CPRACLS = Advanced Cardiac Life Support-Nat'lCT EFM = Electronic Fetal Monitoring-Nat'l - within 6 months of hire.CT AFM = Advanced Fetal Monitoring; CPR - within 6 months of hire.Antepartum, Intrapartum, Postpartum, Post-gynecological and Level 1 Newborn Care.Circulate for surgical procedures performed on the Maternal Child Unit.Electronic Fetal Monitoring.Medical Screening Exam Competency and Triage Obstetrical Patients (within 6 months of hire for experienced nurses (Prior nursing experience- a minimum of one (1) year of independent practice in Labor & Delivery experience).Newborn stabilization and resuscitation (baby catcher).Post Anesthesia Care.Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.Preferred:3 years of the last 5 years recent experience as an RN in Labor and Delivery or equivalent in a setting with 100 births/month.Bachelor of Science in NursingCertification in Specialty Area.
