The OHMG Cardiac Critical Care team is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Cardiac ICU team at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of complex cardiac conditions, including cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support (MCS), left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and cardiac surgery pre- and post-operative care. As an APP in our Cardiac ICU, you will play a crucial role in managing critically ill patients with severe cardiac conditions, delivering high-quality care, and supporting a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Provides direct clinical services for critically ill patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standardsAssess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute cardiac conditions, including cardiogenic shock, MCS devices, LVAD, and ECMO.Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients.Monitor and interpret diagnostic tests and data, including echocardiograms, lab results, and hemodynamic monitoring.Prescribes medication using evidence-based medicine and clinical judgement, manage vasopressors and inotropic support for critically ill patientsDevelop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the advanced heart failure, cardiology, and cardiac surgery teams.Perform procedures such as central line insertion, PAC insertion, arterial line placement, intubation, chest tubes, paracentesis, thoracentesis, etc.Participate in daily rounds and contribute to care planning and decision-making processes.Performs advanced cardiac life support. In a medical emergency, the nurse practitioner will act on behalf of the supervising medical staff member to maintain life support until a licensed physician arrives to manage the patientCommunicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient status, treatment plans, and discharge planning.Stay current with advancements in cardiac critical care and integrate new knowledge into clinical practice.Embodies professionalism through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, ethical decision making and leadership skills.Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing educationMaintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and proceduresQualifications
Education/Training
Nurse Practitioner
MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing.Physician Assistant
Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.Licensure/Certification
Nurse Practitioner
APRN license in the state of Florida.After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board.Maintains current BLS certification.Physician Assistant
Maintain current physician assistant licensure in State of Florida.Maintain current BLS/healthcare certification.Experience
