Job Description

As an Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineering in the Electrical Fault Analysis (EFA) business unit, you will play a significant role in our efforts. Our factories produce low-volume, high-complexity analytical products used by semiconductor designers and manufacturers to improve their products and manufacturing processes.

As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team that displays a range of work behaviors. Together, we will contribute to ongoing product improvement for manufacturing and service processes. In partnership with Field Service, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Quality, and Global Technical Support teams, you will ensure a flawless customer experience. Throughout the lifecycle of our products, you will implement quality, cost, and process improvements to increase customer satisfaction.
A day in the Life:Support field service engineers with installations and upgrades to ensure proper working order. This will require travel to various customer locations worldwide to support installations and upgrades.Resolve factory or field issues by interacting with the appropriate functional groups to achieve resolution.Apply Thermo Fisher Scientific's Practical Process Improvement (PPI) tools to lead or facilitate productivity, quality, process, and cost improvement projects.Take responsibility for engineering change orders to support the factory and service as needed.Train Manufacturing and Service personnel in new product build, test, install, and repair procedures.Define and create test, assembly, installation, and service procedures for the factory and field.
Keys to Success:Education:
Requires a university degree in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.Experience:
Requires a university degree in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a combination of technical education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.3+ years of experience in a high-tech industry environment.Ability to diagnose sophisticated electro-mechanical systems using electrical schematics, DVM, oscilloscopes, laser power meters, and spectrum analyzers.Experience in bringing technology solutions to improve the quality, efficiency, and cost of manufacturing and service.Experience in semiconductor capital equipment manufacturing and/or service.Must have the ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required.Fluent in English (verbal and written).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Visio, etc.) to analyze, organize, and communicate data/information throughout the organization in a clear and concise manner.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Familiar with optical design principles for diagnosing alignment, lasers, and detectors.Experienced in CAD design and evaluating tolerance stack-ups using SolidWorks.Skilled at using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).Experience using Product Document Management systems for technical product documentation record keeping. Siemens Teamcenter preferred.Experience with the use of statistical process control, statistical problem-solving methods, FMEA, Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, etc.Knowledge of core technologies, optics design, motion control, and process automation.Knowledge of applications in the field of Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA).Exemplify the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4i Values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.Relationship building across and outside of the Operations organization.Collaboration and partnership.Flexibility and achieving change.

Compensation and BenefitsThe salary range estimated for this position based in California is $79,200.00-$95,000.00.
