**Senior Commodity Buyer**Employee: Regular : Full timeLocation: Nashville , TNTeam: Supply & Logistics: 2021_11197Zip Code: 37201Posted Date: 2021-05-26 13:00:00**Job Description**The Senior Commodity Buyer for the team provides procurement services and support to the Bridgestone Americas Logistics teams through evaluating vendors, analyzing supplier proposals, negotiating commercial terms, and purchasing of material handling equipment, maintenance services, and tangible goods categories. As the front-line contact in this role, you are required to lead as an expert in the procurement of equipment and services utilized by our manufacturing facilities, Distribution Centers, and Factory Warehouses. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional communication skills across multiple functional groups, which include Logistics, manufacturing, and finance among others. **Company Overview**Nashville, Tenn.-based Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company. The Bridgestone Americas family of companies also operates the world's largest chain of automotive tire and service centers.Guided by its global corporate social responsibility (CSR), commitment 'Our Way to Serve,' Bridgestone embraces its responsibility as a global leader by striving to improve the way people move, live, work and play. **Responsibilities**Working in collaboration with the functional representatives and understanding their needs and requirements, the Sr. Commodity Buyer will:* Assist in the development and implementation of sourcing strategies to support evolving business needs interacting with both suppliers and internal customers to identify requirements, implement and realize optimal value and performance* Provides purchasing support for Material Handling Equipment (MHE), MHE Maintenance services, and Tangible goods Procurement and Procurement representation and participation in all issues related to meeting business requirements* Monitors commodity-impacting market trends to establish insight for strategy development, execution, and risk mitigation* Provide purchasing support ensuring Procurement representation and participation in all issues related to assigned commodities, such as Material Handling Equipment, Furniture and office supplies, Capital Leases, and Warehousing services* Supports the identification, research, and evaluation of suppliers that meet the organizations standards of price, quality, timing, service and reliability of supply* Resolves any internal or external issues related to quality, cost, delivery, etc. to minimize the risk of interrupted supply* Support the execution and management of Procurement processes for designated commodities to reduce total cost of ownership for goods and services while ensuring uninterrupted supply* Facilitate Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) efforts including strategic segmentation and supplier rationalization* Ensure supplier qualification efforts and ongoing quality management* Manage and enhance supplier performance through the monitoring of KPI's/SLA's and effective supplier and stakeholder interaction* Assessing suppliers products and service offerings to ensure compliance with specifications and performance requirements, the Sr. Commodity Buyer will facilitate the analysis and evaluation of quotations, proposals, etc.* Scope of assignment includes:+ Ensuring internal and external relevant data collection+ Commodity and market analysis; cost modeling and analysis+ Contract administration and compliance monitoring for assigned commodities**OPERATIONAL SUPPORT SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:*** Material Handling or tangible goods buying experience to support manufacturing and logistics applications* Operational support category knowledge:+ Cost driver structure+ Regional markets and supply base insight+ Equipment manufacturer base* Business, industry and commodity acumen**FOUNDATIONAL JOB KNOW-HOW:*** Purchasing fundamentals:+ RFQ/RFP, bid analysis, supplier selection and award+ Negotiation strategy and project execution+ Supplier and internal customer interface* Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and negotiation* Proficient in "Problem Solving Decision Making"**SKILL REQUIREMENTS:*** Ability to multitask and adapt priorities quickly* Effective and advanced communication skills* Problem solving; able to identify key issues and effectively coordinate efforts to achieve resolution* Ability to work in a team environment* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite* Analytical skills and experience working with financials, pricing, and payment terms* Experience using tableau or analytical**Qualifications*** Bachelors degree required* 3 years plus of (combined) experience including Procurement, Business, and/or Logistics* Ability to function from a state of independence, displaying ability to manage assignments without significant oversight**Employee Type**Regular : Full time
