Description
BETA is seeking a
Traffic Staff Engineer
to join our team. This position will play a key role in performing traffic and transportation design, developing contract plans and documents and mentoring junior staff. This position will also collaborate across our multiple service areas, assist with business development, project pursuits, and coordinate projects with our clients.
Responsibilities:
Conduct field investigations including roadway inventories/assessments and traffic data collection.Perform traffic engineering design including traffic analysis, traffic signal design, phasing and timing, traffic modeling and simulation.Prepare engineering for traffic signals, intersection geometry, pavement markings and signage, temporary traffic control and construction staging plans.Prepare contract documents, reports, and estimates.Collaborate with design team members and provide technical support.Preferred location is BETA's Norwood office. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.

Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering1-5 years of related engineering experience in traffic and transportation projectsDemonstrated background in traffic and transportation engineeringFamiliarity with Traffic Engineering software (HCS, Synchro)Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspectionsMust be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid driver's license and reliable transportationPreferred Experience:
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE / EIT) certification preferredProfessional Engineer license preferredAutoCAD/Civil 3D experience desirableAbout BETA:
