We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.

The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate's training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.
Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Transportation or designee, receives instruction for the purpose of acquiring the necessary skills to safely and effectively operate a school bus with designated routes within established time schedules.
This position is distinguished from the Bus Driver classification such that the Trainee position will be learning the primary duties of and working towards full certification and licensure to become a qualified School Bus Driver.
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: This is a training program, no experience required.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY: Valid California Driver's License. Copy of DMV driving record.
ALL INTERESTED APPLICANTS WILL BE INVITED TO AN ORIENTATION MEETING. TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE HELD QUARTERLY.
REQUIREMENTS TO START TRAINING: Live Scan. Pre-employment (PEP) strength test. Tuberculosis Examination. DMV/DOT Medical Examination. Class B Permit w/ PS Endorsements.
