About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.

Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the "Gateway to the Delta" and is one of California's oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000.

The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate's training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director-Transportation, drive a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently to assigned locations along designated routes.

THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR APPLICANTS THAT ARE CERTIFIED SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS WHO HOLD VALID LICENSES, ENDORSEMENTS, AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities of the job specification.

LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Class A or B commercial driver's license with passenger, air brake and school bus endorsements. Valid First Aid and CPR Certification issued by an authorized agency. Maintain good driving record. Valid Medical Card. Valid California Special Driver certificate for school bus.

EXAMINATION: An application screening (weighted 10%) and an oral interview (weighted 90%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion ofthe exam. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.

STRENGTH TESTING: All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant's satisfactory results of the Post Offer, Pre-Placement Physical Evaluation Program (PEP). This physical strength test helps us select employee candidates that have demonstrated a minimum level of strength to perform the essential functions of the job.
