Claims Trainees
to join our Home Office team in
Davenport, IA
during the following timeframes : January 2025
or
June 2025 . With 11 branch offices in 10 states, BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including construction, energy, and forest products.
Position Summary
:
The Claims trainee role begins with six months of extensive training at our corporate facility in Davenport, IA. Throughout training, the trainee will gain valuable knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, claims processes, and develop soft skills through our specialized training program, BITCO-U. Following successful completion of training, the position will continue with on-the-job experience at one of our branch office locations.
Primary Responsibilities
:
Through telephone or correspondence, performs the routine investigation and resolution of less complex, more routine claimsAssists with reviewing claim coverage, liability, and damage issuesTakes recorded statements by telephone or in personHandles routine negotiations and factual situationsUnderstands and applies applicable state law cases and statutes regarding liability risks, insurance issues, and tort and contract law principalsCompletes company reports for claims filesTakes releases, proofs of loss and authorizes issuance of settlement fundsParticipates in departmental projectsCompletes necessary course study(ies) relating to insurance coverage and/or claimsGains knowledge of other company departments through contact with such other departmentsDevelops and maintains good working relations with customers and co-workersOther duties as assignedQualifications
:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred but not requiredMust be willing to relocate to any of our branch locations upon successful completion of the training program, with relocation expenses paid by the companyAbility to provide prompt and effective Claims services to our customers.Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external parties, including in a group setting
