POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Community & Outreach position will develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program for the Harrison Family YMCA. This position is directly responsible for the management and implementation of the Annual Campaign, special events, and other grant proposals. They will support the CEO and work with the volunteer groups to achieve maximum contributed income from a wide variety of sources. The Community & Outreach position will lead volunteers to create a culture of philanthropy within the organization. Oversees and manages all volunteers, special events and fundraising efforts for the financial development of the organization. Prepares and submits grant proposals to public and private sources in order to support and achieve YMCA philanthropic endeavors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Oversees the coordination and success of all events.Oversees the management, onboarding, and effectiveness of all volunteers.Develops effective working relationships with service groups, stakeholders, community organizations and companies. Makes presentations about the YMCA.Leads the implementation of the Annual Campaign fundraising efforts and responsible for the success of annual campaign plan and financial goals.Researches, writes, and edits grant proposals according to operating needs, budget needs, and goals.Fosters and cultivates a culture of philanthropy within staff, board, members, volunteers, and the community.Develops and maintains excellent administrative and back-office systems.Manage all volunteer inquiries, volunteer database, and recognition to engage volunteersPlan and coordinate annual events and member engagement eventsAttend community outreach events and prepare others in the Y to attend with the purpose of promoting and engaging others in the Y.Coordinate social responsibility and volunteer initiativesLead and manage Togetherhood Committee and volunteer projects.Work with supervisors to determine current volunteer needs and develop strategies for volunteer recruitment (not including policy volunteers).Support staff and volunteers with community presentations, meetings, and events.Financial Development:Create a Development Plan that includes the Annual and Capital Campaigns, donor cultivations, and special events in accordance with the Association's Strategic Plan.Serve as the primary staff on the Fundraising Committee.Develop annual goals, monitor, and report progress toward these goals, and assess effectiveness of staff efforts.Manage the Annual Campaign, including special events and participate in other YMCA events as requested (e.g. Healthy Kids Day and family events). Develop and manage new capital fundraising efforts.Actively and successfully manage a robust portfolio of donors and prospects capable of making significant gifts to the YMCA.Monitor and report donations as they are received. Acknowledge each gift, in writing, within 3 days of receipt.Develop and meet major gifts activity and revenue goals. Devise, recommend and implement cultivation, solicitation and campaign strategies, development priorities and opportunities, donor relationships, tracking and monitoring of donors and prospects, and management reports.Plan, develop, and execute virtual, online, and other digital campaigns and events in a technologically proficient environment.Responsible for cultivating relationships with existing major donors, identifying prospects, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding both new and existing donor relationships, and collaborating with staff and volunteers to ensure that revenue and non-revenue goals are achieved.Prepare and manage an annual budget for the Development Department and adjust according to results as evidenced in the quarterly re-forecasts.Ensure timely correspondence with donors and funders.Serve as staff liaison to all development department committees recording and distributing accurate minutes.Other duties as assigned.Grant Writing Specific:

Develops our grant procurement strategic plan, including researching, identifying, writing, coordinating, and managing application process for appropriate foundation and government grants.Ensures proper stewardship of grantor relationships and develops strategies to cultivate long-term, comprehensive relationships with all grant-making organizations.Coordinate with staff on supporting aspects of grants including budget narratives, timeline, schedule, photos, etc. as required.Successfully understand and communicate mission and vision of Harrison Family YMCA in all development activities.Coordinate regular meetings with program and finance staff to track grant compliance.Responsible for the invoicing and record keeping for the campaign.Assist in creating and distributing end-of-year tax receipts to donors.YMCA COMPETENCIES (Team Leader):

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in related field.Must have excellent interpersonal, public relations and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations.Experience researching, writing, and editing grants.Demonstrated project management, organization, delegation, and prioritization skills.Ability to supervise and direct.Ability to direct and coordinate the creative process with staff and outside resources to achieve consensus and desired results.High proficiency in Microsoft Office Systems, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.Valid NC Driver's License.Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed with a driving record that meets YMCA policies.Proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.Preferred Adult & Infant CPR and Basic First Aid Certification.Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid; the following training provided by the Y: Appropriate Touch, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Managing your Risk of Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Aquatics Safety at the Pool, Hazard Communication for Employees, Social Media & Digital Communications, Safe Lifting, Harassment Prevention, Preventing Member and Guest Slips, Trips, and Falls, Risk Management 101.
