Overview
The Information Technology (IT) internship will consist of 10 - 12 weeks of fulltime information technology work in various IT departments.Each intern will be assigned a department for the duration of the internship; however, rotations will occur as needed.The interns will be compensated and housing will provided if needed for the duration of the internship.Teaming activities may be scheduled after hours throughout the internship.Each intern will deliver a presentation at the end of their internship to demonstrate lessons learned and knowledge gained.
Essential Functions
IT Concepts and Tools:The IT Intern is expected to be competent with the administrative and communication tools for word processing, spread sheet development, time keeping, etc.The incumbent is expected to develop fundamental understanding of SPP's IT systems concepts and gain knowledge of software associated with area of responsibility.IT Responsibilities:As directed by the IT lead or supervisor, the IT Intern should be prepared to enthusiastically complete specific assignments directed by ad hoc stakeholder/committees, settlements systems, data services, reliability systems, markets services, and IT support efforts.Teamwork and Leadership Skills:The IT Intern should provide basic technical support to help project groups meet aggressive time schedules.SPP Culture and Core Values:SPP employees are expected to embrace and promote the SPP Culture, Mission and Core Values in attitude toward stakeholder relationships, current work assignments as well as long term goals and strategic initiative of the organization.The IT Intern should incorporate a fundamental working understanding of the SPP Culture Drivers, Mission and Core Values and apply this directly to all IT assignments and any SPP related effort, not necessarily limited to IT.
RequirementsA college student entering their Sr. year working toward a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related fieldAn expressed desire to work in the Power industry3.0 GPA or aboveWork Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job successfully.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to make decisions, interpret data, and problem solve.The employee frequently is required to stand or sit for extended periods; use hands to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment.The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.Requires the ability to work and collaborate with managers and employees at all levels to exchange ideas, information, and opinions to facilitate the task.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is an intern position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
