Cutter Operators
to join our Finishing team! Cutter Operators perform set-up, adjustment and safe operation of cutting equipment. They also prepare product to be packed, collated or bound, ensuring that all items produced meet customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Set-up and adjust cutter machine in accordance with instructions and job requirementsSet-up automatic cutting programs manually into cutter machineOperate cutter machine and ancillary equipment to cut material into desired dimensionsEvaluate and make decisions concerning quality of product while cuttingReview job tickets and plan work processes to meet customer specificationsKeep accurate press sheet information with dates and countsMonitor assigned machine during runs to ensure adherence to specifications and make adjustments as neededPerform routine maintenance, such as blade replacement, lubrication, and waxingNotify supervision of mechanical/electrical problems and complete "Work Orders" for parts/repairs that require maintenance assistancePrepare load flags on each outgoing load showing the next operation or destinationAll other duties as assignedRequirements
Required Skills and Abilities
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)1 - 3 years of previous cutting experience preferredFull comprehension in reading work instructions and business memosEffective communications skills with all levels within the organizationAbility to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problemsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to prevent errors and solve problems on all prepress machinesMust have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlinesBe organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervisionPhysical Requirements
Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bendingPushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbsRequires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity, and coordinationRequires near visual acuityRequires working around and operating departmental equipmentMust be able to access and navigate each department in the facilityRequires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstancesWork Environmental Factors
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials. A production employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
