Overview:

The Assistant Director, Event Management will provide support to the Event Operations team based out of the New York office, both in contributing to management and oversight of the Harold Pratt House rental operations, and in supporting day-of logistics for Council events. This is an on-site role.The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to)::Assist the Deputy Director by contributing to the management and oversite of the Harold Pratt House rental operations including providing guidance on rental client sales and relations and overall streamlining and innovation of our guidelines, processes, and logistics.Fully support the Harold Pratt House rental operations with responding to inquiries, conducting site walkthroughs, client bookings, and client relations.Serve as the venue operations manager and main point of contact on the day of the rental event, including working closely with high-level corporate clients. Rental clients are a range of Corporate and Social/Wedding clients and events can take place during business hours, early morning, late evenings, and weekends.Provide administrative, financial, and marketing support for the Harold Pratt House rental operations including maintaining event-related materials, event accounting records, and maintaining relationships with advertising sites as well as supporting our social media strategies.Execute day-of event logistics for daily Council in-person, virtual and hybrid events. Responsibilities include ensuring room setups are completed according to the event schedule, ensuring audio-visual requirements are met, working with caterers and other vendors involved, and managing virtual zoom productions as a host/operator and other event logistics. Daily Council events can take place during business hours, early morning, late evenings, and weekends.On a limited basis, opportunity to plan, coordinate, and manage event logistics for major or special Council events as assigned by the Director or Deputy Director, Event Management and Operations. Responsibilities include working closely with programming departments in finalizing timelines, menu planning, room setups, and audio-visual needs as well as managing the events team in executing the major or special Council event.Provide and uphold a courteous, positive, professional, and cooperative attitude with the staff, vendors, and guests by phone, email, and in person.Qualifications:

Degree in hospitality, event management, and business management are preferred5 or more years related experience; venue management, sales, and/or operations, hotel/banquet, catering and/or corporate event experience strongly preferredOverall understanding of different types of event furniture and functions including types of tables and table sizes is strongly preferredStrong administrative experience including the ability to manage multiple priorities on deadlineOutstanding attention to detail, customer service, communication, and problem solving skillsExperience with virtual event platforms including Zoom or WebexStrong computer skills, including online event planning and floor plan sites such as Prismm or Social Tables as well as Microsoft Office SuiteAs this role is designated as essential personnel, the availability to work flexible hours upon request, including early mornings, late evenings, and during periods of inclement weather is requiredPay Range$70,000 to $82,000 per yearPay commensurate with experience and educationAbout CFR:Founded in 1921, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.
