Upon direction for the Medical Staff Department Manager, the Credentialing Assistant is responsible for assisting with coordinating, monitoring and maintenance of all credentialing related duties including initial credentialing; re-credentialing; overseeing the on boarding process of incoming providers; and off boarding existing providers. This is managed through many variations of electronic and paper communications with, providers (including MDs, PAs, NPs), locum agencies, practice administrators, recruitment specialists, and the health system executive team.Other duties include maintaining credentialing data base and physician on-call schedule.

Education/Certification Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.Certifications through NAMSS, AAPC NCQA, or other nationally recognized credentialing association is desired.Hold the following certifications CPCS, CPMSM or dual certifications is desired but not required.Willingness to continue education to become CPCS or CPMSM certified is desired.Experience and Skill Requirements

Previous credentialing experience desired.Two years' experience working in an administrative role within a healthcare office is desired and/or handling sensitive information.Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills are essential.Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization including clinical professionals, colleagues, contracted physician placement agencies, and practice and hospital administration.Must be efficient with a computer and comfortable learning new applications and adaptable to change.Current systems used Cactus, Spok, CDS Desktop Fax, knowledge of credentialing platform is desired.Must be able to work independently and be self-motivatedStrong ability to problem solveStrong time managementProactively prioritize needs.Must be extremely organized.Must be able to stay positive at all times
