Job Summary

This Sr. DBA/System Administrator position performs systems management in conjunction with Oracle Linux systems administration, database, application, and networking teams. Key responsibilities will include OS patch management, systems architecture & design and installation, as well as systems support and maintenance.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstalling, configuring, and maintaining server operating systems and software.Managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls on servers and systems.Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and resolving technical problems.Performing regular backups and implementing disaster recovery plans.Installing and maintaining security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.Automating system administration tasks using scripting languages or automation tools.Planning and implementing system upgrades and migrations.Collaborating with other IT staff and departments to ensure smooth operation of systems and services.Documenting system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.Providing technical support and assistance to end-users, and application development teams as needed.Assist with Oracle / Linux Job Runs and Code Promotions as needed.Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage.Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools.Plans and implements backup and recovery of the Oracle database.Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes, menu changes throughout the development life cycle.Implements and enforces security for all of the Oracle Databases.Performs database re-organizations as required to improve performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.Puts standards in pace to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security, and performance. The DBA will perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure standards are being adhered.Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database.The DBA has the ultimate responsibility for the physical database design.Other duties and projects as assigned.Qualifications

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and fix security risksMust possess excellent communication and presentation skillsA good knowledge of operating systemsA good knowledge of physical database designAbility to perform both Oracle and also operating system performance monitoringKnowledge of Medi-Cal program. Medical claims, utilization management, disease management, enrollment, and provider relations desiredFamiliarity with database queriesAbility to work with data architects and other IT specialist to set up, maintain and monitor data networksKnowledge of database structure languages, such as SQL or PLSQLExperience with server installation and maintenanceFamiliarity with database management best practicesKnowledge of IT security best practicesExperience with a variety of computer information systemsExcellent attention to detailProblem-solving and critical thinkingAbility to explain complex ideas in simple termsGood multitasking abilitiesA strong understanding of the way Oracle enforces data integrityEducation & Experience

BS Degree (Master's Degree is preferred) in computer science, programming, or related fieldThree (3) or more years of experience with UNIX scripting and Oracle database programming strongly preferred.Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Oracle / LINUX Administration, system software installation, customization, and support in Oracle Cloud (OCI) or On-Prem Infrastructure.Experience with Virtualization Technologies (VMWare, KVM, OVMM, Oracle PCA)Experience with Storage and backup technologiesExperience with Shell scripting.
