Are you a rising college junior, senior or master's student who wants work experience on a collaborative and dynamic IT team?Kinsale Insurance has multiple internships available across application development (Java), information security, infrastructure support, DevOps and business/data analysis disciplines.Project work during your internship will center around software development, information security, business and data analysis, efficiency, and quality enhancements, learning and development.Kinsale offers a paid internship with the opportunity for college credit. We are onsite at our fabulous building in Richmond, VA, and you must be able to come into the office.
Responsibilities
Application Development (Java and Angular)Develop software solutions aligned with business requirementsPlan, create, execute, and automate test casesDevelop an understanding of best practices for software development, quality assurance, and release managementInformation Security and Infrastructure Support (AWS and Office 365)Support information security risk assessmentsParticipate in vulnerability management activitiesPerform logical access reviewsBusiness/Data Analysis (SQL and Python)Develop an understanding of business applications, workflows, processes, needs, and constraintsUtilize maintenance applications and utilities to support configuration changes and enhancements on our systems in the production environmentPartner with team members and business stakeholders to define business objectives and requirementsConduct ad-hoc data analysis as requested by team members and/or business stakeholders to assist in defect resolution or requirements gatheringCreate and automate key reportsDevOps Engineering (Git, Python, Java and Angular)Design, configure and optimize Gitlab CICD pipelinesConfigure and implement Helm chartsDeep understanding of Kubernetes and usage and containerizationAbility to troubleshoot and configure Kafka
Qualifications
Working towards a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, technology, or related fieldEagerness to work in a collaborative environment and to develop technical and soft skillsAbility to understand and document processesExperience using programming languages, scripting languages, and tools (Java, Angular, Python a plus; optional skill based on role)Ability to write and execute basic SQL queries (optional)Cloud skills (AWS or Azure) are a plusAnalytical problem solver who can identify, evaluate, and resolve issuesAbility to manage multiple priorities and initiativesTraining
