Job Title: Psychiatrist

Job Status: Full-time & Part-time available

Job Summary:

Under limited direction from a senior level manager, the Psychiatrist uses specialized knowledge in the field of medicine and skills obtained through experience and/or specialized training to administer psychopharmacology benefits to patients of the Community Health and Research Center. Performs peer review functions to other psychiatrists in the department as well as provides competent, professional and ethical care to a designated patient population. Acts as a consultant to the clinical staff, medical assistants, program managers, quality assurance manager and the Director of the Community Health and Research. Performs all duties and responsibilities required of a psychiatrist and provides quality and cost-effective care for the designated patient population in accordance with accepted medical standards and protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Administer psychopharmacology and direct care to behavioral health patientsDevelop medication policies and procedures in accordance with accepted medical standards and protocols, accreditation and funding source guidelines in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager and the Director of the Community Health and Research CenterProvide consultation to clinical staff regarding patients and psychopharmacological treatmentsParticipate in treatment team conferences which may include other professionals, family members and referral sourcesDocument all services in compliance with the agency's quality assurance planReport on program progress at required intervals per funding guidelinesConduct in-service education and professional development to Mental Health department staffEngage in research activities that promote the knowledge and capabilities of the department and the mental health fieldParticipate regularly in monthly department meetings including clinical case conferences and quarterly staff meetingsMaintain agency confidentiality and client's privacy in accordance to the agency's policies and proceduresMaintain currency in the field of psychiatry and psychopharmacologyFollow the funding sources requirements and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards applicable to the services providedMay translate and interpret information for non-English speaking clients, as neededOperate standard office equipment and use required software applicationsPerform other duties and responsibilities as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Diagnostic Criteria from the DSM-5Advanced concepts, principles and practices of psychiatric medical practices, treatments and techniquesPrescription drug medications and drug interactionsProper medical documentation and charting techniquesBiological, psychological and sociological concepts and trendsAdvanced concepts, practices and procedures of crisis intervention techniquesCommunity resources including social services agencies and crisis intervention providersProcesses, rules and regulations of various services and funding agencies surrounding the eligibility and maintenance of the services being receivedSkill in:

Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft OfficeAbility to:

Listen to patients, understand symptoms and make a diagnosis or prescribe additional testing using standard examination techniquesAssess data reflective of each patient's status and interprets appropriate information needed to identify each patient's specific requirementsWork independently as well as collaboratively within a team environmentEstablish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organizationPartner with other functional areas to accomplish objectivesAttend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientationOrganize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlinesHandle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional mannerCommunicate effectively, both orally and in writingSpeak and write in EnglishInterpret, speak and write in Arabic is preferredMaintain confidentiality of agency and client informationEducational/Previous Experience Requirements:

Minimum Degree Required:

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy

At least 3 years of direct clinical services and psychopharmacology to mental health clients (adults, adolescents and children)Prior experience providing psychopharmacological consultation and direction to other professionals is preferredAny equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human ResourcesLicenses/Certifications:

Board Certification in Psychiatry and Neurology

Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required
