OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS

Mount Carmel, one of the largest healthcare systems in central Ohio, is seeking a Program Director for its ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program. The Internal Medicine Residency Program is approved for a total of 27 residents, 9 per year. Our employed faculty consists of 5 full-time physicians staffing our resident inpatient and outpatient teams.

The successful candidate needs a current certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (MD/DO). Five years leadership experience in graduate medical education is preferred; documented scholarly activity with participation in regional or national meetings.

Job Summary

The Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program is responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and general administration of the Mount Carmel Internal Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director is expected to establish the strategic direction of the program and is responsible for the standards and quality.

The Program Director must:

Be a role model of professionalism.

Be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures.

Administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME Competency domains.

Provide a learning and working environment in which residents can raise concerns and provide feedback in a confidential manner as appropriate.

Design, implement and direct scholarly activity and productivity.

Mentor residents' and junior faculty research activities.

Ensure and oversee faculty development.

Recruit and select, evaluate, and promote residents, as well as provide disciplinary action.

Deliver effective, comprehensive feedback and evaluations to residents and faculty.

Monitor resident supervision at all participating sites.

Serve on departmental or hospital committees, such as clinical competence, curriculum, and graduate medical education committees.

Complete surveys and questionnaires (ABIM, Association of American Medical Colleges, Fellowship and Residency Electronic Interactive Database, APDIM Survey, etc.).

Prepare and monitor budgets, contracts, salaries, and benefits.
