The Government Affairs Manager II will report directly to the Director of Government Affairs for the U.S. and Canada. We prefer this person to be based in Sacramento, CA, though other locations within California can be considered.About the TeamInstacart’s Policy & Government Affairs department advocates for public policy outcomes that support the long-term growth of our business and the success of our key stakeholders. We engage a diverse coalition of stakeholders and communities to build effective advocacy campaigns that advance our public policy goals.About the JobBuild and maintain relationships with key policymakers and other influential state and local government-oriented stakeholdersEducate state and local policymakers on the value of Instacart’s business to their constituents and the e-commerce landscapeCraft and execute legislative, regulatory, and political strategies to achieve state and local policy goalsPrepare for relevant hearings and state and local regulatory proceedingsRepresent Instacart in western regional trade associations and industry coalitionsBuild third party political, advocacy and industry allies to support strategic policy objectivesCollaborate with the other pillars of the PGA team – Policy Research and Development, Public Engagement, and Federal Affairs to drive key legislative strategies forwardMonitor legislation and regulatory matters and advise the company with respect to policy challengesManage external consultants to help execute comprehensive strategiesAbout YouMinimum QualificationsYou have 5+ years of state or local government, policy or corporate government relations experienceYou have established policymaker relationships and you confidently interact with elected officials and executives alikeYou have a deep understanding of state and local lawmaking and regulatory processesYou are a strategic thinker with polished oral and written presentation skillsYou thrive under pressure and can balance long and short-term priorities to deliver resultsYou are resourceful and entrepreneurial with a bias towards actionYou are willing to travel frequentlyPreferred QualificationsBonus points if you have expertise in labor/workforce, retail, e-commerce, transportation, or agriculture policyInstacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work. This role is remote and the base pay range for a successful candidate is dependent on their permanent work location.For US based candidates, the base pay ranges for a successful candidate are listed below.CA, NY, CT, NJ:
