DescriptionMilliman's Seattle Health Practice is looking for an FSA with experience in health actuarial work. The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational talents. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to lead a team of dedicated consultants are also necessary for success. We provide extensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques.About Our PracticeMilliman's Seattle Health Practice serves a wide variety of organizations, including insurance companies, health plans, state and federal agencies, healthcare providers, reinsurance companies, and employers. For the right candidate, these opportunities will help you grow professionally while enjoying the work you do.You will have the opportunity to:Perform analysis of healthcare dataWrite reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audienceManage projects through completion within an expected budgetSupervise actuarial students and less-experienced actuaries in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projectsEmployees will be expected to develop the ability to manage client relationships and successfully generate new business with both new and existing clients.To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications:Professional Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related fieldFSA designationSeven to ten years of healthcare actuarial experience. Meaningful experience in one or more of the following areas would be considered a "plus":Medicaid rate-settingReserving and year-end statutory financials ("blue" and "orange" blanks)ACA pricing/rate filingMedicare Advantage, especially bid development and understanding of revenue mechanisms (e.g., risk scores, star ratings)Value-based provider contractingProficiency with ExcelSome knowledge of SAS, SQL, or RStrong understanding of the US healthcare systemDemonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable wayPersonal Qualifications:Excellent communication, both verbal and writtenAbility to work both independently and in team environmentsProven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is keyEntrepreneurial spiritLocationThis position is based out of the Milliman office in Seattle, WA. It is preferred that this employee work in-office, but remote candidates anywhere in the US will be considered.CompensationThe salary range is $98,000 to $204,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. Employees are also eligible for a bonus under our standard bonus policy. Paid bonus is dependent on billable hours worked by and work managed by the employee.
