Posted Monday, February 26, 2024 at 5:00 AMPurposeUnder the supervision of the Associate General Counsel – Employment, the Senior Counsel will work in a fast-paced setting, providing counsel regarding employment issues and related matters. In this role, you will review employment agreements; work with and serve as a liaison to outside counsel regarding employment litigation, employee benefits, and other related matters. Participate in meetings and research relevant laws, as needed; and lead and support on other matters as assigned by the AGC. This position focuses on supporting Ravago’s businesses in the U.S. and Canada and offers a unique opportunity to contribute strategically to Ravago’s initiatives, leveraging expertise to drive successful working atmosphere in a dynamic and collaborative environment.Areas of Responsibility / TasksAct as a trusted advisor and liaison to Human Resources and other departments regarding employment issues across the organization.Investigate internal and external employment-based complaints and prepare responses to outside entities, with and without support of outside legal counsel.Draft, review, and revise employment and other related contractual agreements.With assistance of outside counsel, assist with strategy and representation of Ravago entities in formal employment charges and litigation.Provide assistance and work with other attorneys in the department on various projects.Provide prompt responses to requests for employment advice, demonstrating agility and efficiency in meeting business needs.All other duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNot ApplicableCompetencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA)A proven track record in providing guidance and advice on matters related to employment.Exhibit strong organizational skills, allowing for effective collaboration with diverse cross-functional teams. Ability to work with little to no oversight.Manage a substantial volume of concurrent and competing priorities.Possess excellent written, oral, and organizational skills, ensuring clarity and precision in communication with business partners.Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / CertificationsEducation:
Juris Doctorate degree required from a U.S. ABA-accredited law schoolEquivalent experience considered in lieu of degree
Experience:
5-7 years of employment practice requiredPrior in-house experience is highly desirable
Licenses / Certifications:
Valid driver’s license – requiredMaintain an active and good-standing license to practice law in at least one U.S. State Bar
Language:
Proficiency in English requiredBi-Lingual – Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
