Description

The Physician Assistant (PA) functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Delegation of Services Agreement (DSA). A physician assistant may only provide those medical services which he or she is competent to perform and which are consistent with the physician assistant's education, training and experience and which are delegated in writing by a supervising physician who is responsible for the patients cared for by that physician assistant. By using the DSA the PA is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition, and determine if they are abnormal findings.The PA can also provide and coordinate the care of oncology patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provide education and support as well as make appropriate referrals. Document services rendered.This PA will work at the SM Parkside, Beverly Hills, and Encino locations.Salary range: $74.95-$100.86/hourlyQualifications

Required:Graduated from an accredited PA program. CA PA license and National Board Certification. BLS Certification from AHA or ARC-required, DEA - required1-3 years of oncology experience as a physician assistant in outpatient and/or inpatient clinical setting -requiredPrevious experience with medication management -preferredSkill and communication theory and its applications in a healthcare facility -requiredSkill in written and oral communication utilizing standard English grammar and vocabulary, as well as medical English -requiredSkill in interviewing patients of different ages and cultures in order to obtain and provide information -requiredKnowledge and skill to perform physician patient assessment through a standard physical examination -requiredDetailed knowledge of laboratory test values such as CBC, urine analysis and drug levels -requiredWorking knowledge of patient teaching -requiredKnowledge of problem solving techniques -requiredKnowledge and skill in using personal computer for patient care and information management -requiredKnowledge of interdisciplinary resources needed to coordinate patient care and facilitate referral -requiredKnowledge and skill in wound care and treatment -requiredSkill in organizing and prioritizing -requiredAbility to read, interpret, apply, and/or follow physician orders, policies, procedures, and written/verbal instructions -requiredKnowledge of policies and procedures and standards of care of UCLA Healthcare -preferredAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel -requiredSkill in working independently and following through with minimum directions -requiredDocument patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner -required
