Minimum Qualifications:M.A./M.S. or Ph.D. in Communication or related fieldDemonstrated potential for teaching excellenceExperience as a director, assistant director, or speech and debate coachDemonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student populationPreferred Qualifications:Experience administrating a full-service forensics program and hosting forensics tournamentsAbility to teach courses in argumentation and debate; a commitment to engaging students outside of the classroom through providing support, including mentoring, and program developmentTeaching experience demonstrating excellence on the university levelDuties:Work with department specialists to manage budget and team travel requestsCompose yearly IRA request and attend hearingsHost Jack Howe Memorial tournament and other local and national tournaments at the high school and college levelSchedule and attend team meetings (2x a week)Recruit on-campus and off-campus – particularly LA Urban Debate League schoolsCoordinate team travel arrangements and attend some forensics tournamentsFoster alumni and community relationsPerform other duties necessary to administer a full-service forensics programHow to Apply - Required Documentation:An Equity and Diversity Statement about your teaching or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with a diverse student population (maximum one page, single-spaced).
