The Technical Product Manager will be the Product Owner responsible for translating key items on the Powin Roadmap into detailed requirements for the Technology organization to execute. As part of these responsibilities, the Technical Product Manager will be expected to connect individual features and development efforts to Powin's key business initiatives, and to suggest improvements to products to support these high-level goals.The TPM will be a core contributor to a growing portfolio of features included in Powin's environment, which supports thousands of megawatt-hours of dispatchable clean energy globally. The role is hands-on and assists with developing, refining, and advancing Powin's battery energy storage technology.Responsibilities:Proactively identify product capability gaps for internal and external customers and quantify the value of filling those gaps so they can be appropriately prioritized for development.Translate product roadmap and business strategy into detailed requirements which the Technology organization can develop into prototypes and products. Determine if prototypes and finished products are meeting product goals/requirements.Obtain buy-in from key stakeholders across the organization (e.g., Product, Technology, and Data & Technical Services groups) using evidence-based decision making and demonstrating competence.Conduct research and develop a solid understanding of customer needs, new technologies, trends in the market, and competitors.Develop requirements documents, functional specifications, and mock-ups to illustrate product ideas and concepts.Work directly with customers and advocate internally on behalf of their technical needs.Lead simulation and field testing of new product features and capabilities, where needed.Other job duties as assigned.Qualifications:Background in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or similar technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.4-6 years of relevant industry experience and a track record of solving tough, technical problems.Technical experience with Software Development processes and providing clear documentation for engineering teams.Detail-oriented and organized.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to be an outstanding team player.Ability to learn new frameworks, new environments, and new technologies.Technical knowledge of the renewable energy industry.Ability to work cross-functionally, explain designs and concepts to others with different backgrounds/degrees.Solid analytical and problem-solving skills and can work independently and manage the workload of multiple projects and tasks.Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support international teams.SCADA, PPC, EMS, and BMS experience preferred.Deep knowledge of power electronics preferred.Experience with control systems, particularly as they relate to power and energy systems preferred.Proficiency with Python, Java, or other languages preferred.Technical knowledge of Li-ion batteries and the grid-scale energy storage industry preferred.
