Senior Commercial Strategy Manager . Under the Director of US Strategy, KSUS and in partnership with the Commercial leadership team, this role will be responsible to develop, drive and measure the US commercial strategy, driving our organization to achieve an ambitious 5-year US revenue goal of $1.5B. This individual will further strategy and direction setting by supporting the identification and then prioritizing the areas for growth and improvement.In addition to driving the overall commercial strategy, this individual will also lead the commercial business in the annual long-range strategic planning process - guiding and collaborating with the KSUS Commercial Leadership Team in development of department-specific strategies, driving execution and tracking progress against plans.Finally, the Sr. Commercial Strategy Manager will also be responsible for leading high priority strategy projects in conjunction with either internal cross functional business teams (or sometimes external vendors, such as consulting teams) to explore areas for future growth and/or business operational improvement. Example project could include (but not limited to): growth strategy / new business expansion, buy/build/partner analysis, go-to-market strategy, portfolio analysis, voice of customer / market research, investigating new business models, commercial model organizational design, etc.ResponsibilitiesSupporting KSUS overall approach to commercial distribution strategy based on company's market position, competitive industry insights, and best practice frameworks.Continuously monitor company and market performance to determine if strategies need to be adjusted or new strategies should be introduced; develop key insights briefing as needed.Conduct ad hoc strategic projects in partnership with other teams across KARL STORZ US organization to develop and drive strategies for those commercial business segments or that drive KARL STORZ US overarching goals; this may include analysis of various data to identify actionable trends and key insights; Investigate, identify opportunities, make recommendation(s) and if agreed, assist with execution of recommendation(s).Lead annual strategic planning processes for both KSUS Commercial and individual Commercial segments.Support communication and execution of KSUS Commercial strategy throughout the year to various stakeholders.Interface and ensure alignment in strategies with KSUS business planning and Global Sales & Marketing (GSM) strategy and initiatives.Serve as the voice of KSUS Commercial Strategy, creating both employee and executive presentations and materials as needed to represent strategic plan/priorities and progress towards goals.Work may also include collaborating with sales and marketing leadership from each business segment to:Collaborate on key new product launches and strategy development.Develop and execute short-and long-range strategy to achieve business segment goals.Identify product and service solutions to maximize revenue and innovate new revenue and business models to drive recurring revenue streams.Deliver data-driven insights for strategy development that paves the way for the sales teams to maximize revenue within their territories.Support commercial business leaders in identification and vetting of potential commercial partnerships to facilitate growth.RequirementsBachelor's degree in business administration, analytics or related field, or equivalent experience.Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience in strategy planning/execution/management or similar roles, inclusive of 2+ years' experience in consulting or a corporate strategic planning role.Knowledge of best-practice frameworks and approaches to strategy and ability to apply a variety of strategic frameworks to analyze problems and to guide and develop solutions.Experience working with senior leaders, influencing, and advising on strategic plans; adept interpersonally, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and generate confidence, trust, and respect.Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel.Strong business acumen and thought leadership including ability to quickly understand critical linkages and business.Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate uncertain situations to drive for clarity, work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-speed environment.Strong program management experience and organizational skills.Ability to translate and communicate complex topics in a variety of forums, tailoring communications to effectively fit and influence the targeted audience.Ability to work independently and to plan, organize and set/achieve priorities when performing work.Executive presence, presentation, and communication skills.Ability to travel 1-2 times per month to US commercial headquarters in Los Angeles (if not living locally).PreferencesMBA or equivalent experience.Prior business and/or operational roles in complex environments.Experience in healthcare industry (Medical Device, Life Sciences/Pharma, Provider, Payer).Awareness and understanding of medical-device company strategies and initiatives.Knowledge and understanding of current medical-device industry changes, context, and complexities.International experience within corporate strategy department or supporting business level strategic role or experience within a top-tier consulting firm supporting execution for a variety of strategic projects.
