As Policy Special Projects Lead, you will lead complex cross-functional projects that advance key company priorities, take ownership of emerging policy opportunities and challenges, and engage external stakeholders to drive progress in AI policy and AI safety. You will also collaborate with Policy and cross-functional colleagues on a variety of other projects, including analyzing or developing new policy proposals and drafting submissions for public comment.About AnthropicAnthropic is an AI safety and research company that’s working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Our interdisciplinary team has experience across ML, physics, policy, business, and product.Representative projects:Designing and executing a plan to ensure smooth entry to a new market from a regulatory perspectiveWorking closely with cross-functional internal partners on high-stakes company initiativesBriefing a diverse set of policy and research actors that are looking to better understand AI safety and AI policy opportunitiesDeveloping new programming and generating opportunities for Anthropic to regularly engage with policymakers, think tanks, and non-profit organizationsCollaborating with policy and technical teams to translate Anthropic research into concrete policy proposals, stakeholder education, and thought leadership opportunitiesDeveloping and amplifying public submissions, responses to requests for information (RFI), and policy memos written by Anthropic to drive positive change in AI policyYou might be a good fit if you:Have a track record of effective, information-rich advocacy in policy communities in multiple regions of the worldThrive when engaging with governments, policymakers, and civil society to translate complex technical topics into accessible informationKnow what resources will be useful for policymakers to understand and act on a particular issue areaHave demonstrated success in identifying and convening relevant stakeholdersAre motivated to better equip governments to understand the pace of progress in the AI field and develop effective policiesAre adept at creating compelling narratives and real-world examples to support your advocacy effortsEnjoy thinking through the policy implications of technical developments and industry trends, and relating them to the interests and priorities of policymakersHave a deep curiosity for frontier technological research and are eager to work closely with technical colleaguesStrong candidates may also:Have extensive experience engaging government regulatory authorities in major international markets, especially from a private sector perspectiveHave demonstrated an ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical areas and policy dynamicsAnnual SalaryThe expected salary range for this position is $280k-$300k.We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification.
