We are recruiting for a Financial Controller for a Denver-based not-for-profit hospice, home health and palliative care provider that serves patients across Colorado. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller oversees the organization's financial activities, ensuring integrity of all financial transactions, building financial sustainability, and safeguarding the assets of the company. This person oversees financial reporting and transaction processing, including monthly financial reports, payroll, accounts payable, and cash management. Directs and manages accounting staff, including building and implementing work processes and systems necessary to hire, motivate, develop, position, and retain the best people to meet enterprise and departmental goals. Builds and maintains financial controls and oversees all accounting functions to achieve and maintain financial sustainability, ensuring the enterprise is operating within general compliance and audit guidelines reflective of the profession and that full transparency is maintained. Coordinates annual financial audits, 403(b) audit, cost report, and 990 tax return preparation. Assists in statistical and financial analysis reporting.Key responsibilities include:Producing monthly financial reports (i.e. income statements, balance sheets, operating budgets and variances, board reports, department and program budgets, fixed assets).Providing finance materials for various Boards and Committees of the Board and its Affiliates.Supervising Accounting, Payroll, and Accounts Payable staff, including recruitment, professional development, training, and assignment of duties and responsibilities.Maintaining and implementing appropriate accounting processes and internal controls over accounting functions including review of balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and analysis.Managing the annual financial and 403(b) audits to receive a clean opinion with minimal audit adjustments and management letter comments.Providing oversight on Treasury management to minimize banking fees.Reviewing tax returns.Leading the annual budgeting process and financial analysis.Coordinating external financial audits (external audit, focused audits, and retirement plan audit).Participating in various forums internally to coordinate dissemination of financial information across the enterprise and support decision making, including support for development and the grant solicitation/fulfillment process.Analyzing long-range economic trends and projecting company prospects for future growth. Identifying opportunities for expansion into new program and revenue areas.We are looking for a strong finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and is not afraid to roll up their sleeves. This person is analytical, detail-oriented, a good team player, and ideally has the following qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required. A Master's degree is preferred.8+ years of financial management with increasing responsibilities and progressive experience.2+ years as a Controller or 4+ years as an Assistant Controller is preferred.Audit experience.Big 4 public accounting experience.Valid CPA.Healthcare experience is a plus.If this sounds like you, let's connect!
