Provides exceptional customer service and product knowledge and contributes to a positive and collaborative team environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGeneral Requirements:Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information and assists in locating product throughout the store. Seeks opportunities to exceed customer expectations and enhance the customer experience.Demonstrates ability to manage own time and models a flexible work style. Understands and complies with specific department or location guidelines, tasks and responsibilities.Position Responsibilities:Partners with the Beer and Wine Buyer to manage and oversee all areas of the department, including task delegation and production prioritization.Ensures consistent department conditions, stocking, rotation, and adherence to merchandising standards.Orders beer and wine products according to sales forecasts and seasonal needs, maintaining appropriate inventory levels.Plans for weekly ads, events, and holidays in collaboration with the Beer & Wine Buyer.Builds attractive product displays and arranges items to highlight featured, unique, and seasonal products.Conducts in-store tastings in compliance with state and local liquor laws.Maintains professional relationships with vendors.Ensures accurate placement and delivery of customer special orders.Receives and unloads merchandise, checks quality, and communicates issues to management.Stocks and rotates products, maintaining product quality and managing expiration dates.Maintains organized, clean back stock areas.Models excellent customer service, coaching staff and handling escalated situations to ensure customer satisfaction.Reads and understands merchandising information, developing and executing merchandising plans.Demonstrates excellent product knowledge, including beer and wine terminology, styles, and producers.Share product knowledge with customers and staff, making recommendations based on customer needs.Partners with the Beer & Wine Buyer to communicate product information and trends to staff.Plans, leads and analyzes inventory with the Beer & Wine Buyer.Demonstrates ability to multitask and manage time effectively, adjusting priorities based on department needs.Promotes a collaborative team environment, fostering open communication and resolving staff issues proactively.Uses various tools and equipment, including baler, hand truck, POS, industrial kitchen equipment, and standard office equipment.QualificationsPrevious customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience preferred; beer and wine retail experience highly preferred.Previous experience in ordering/inventory management required.Demonstrated product knowledge of beer and wine required.Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.Entry-level proficiency with MS Office and working knowledge of POS, inventory, or other retail-specific software preferred, with the ability to learn new software.Language SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills are required.Mathematical SkillsBasic to intermediate math and computation skills are required.Reasoning AbilitySkills to read, understand, and follow through on verbal and written instructions. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment around sensitive information. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.Knowledge of EnglishShould have the ability to speak, read, and understand English.Physical DemandsThis position works consistently at a light work level in the office, and a medium or heavy work level when supporting stores or other offsite events. Frequently required to sit, walk, reach, and grasp. Occasionally required to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift. Up to occasionally, dependent on location, required to climb stairs, step stools, or ladders.This position works with standard office equipment. May be required to use the following tools and equipment when working in stores or offsite; baler, hand truck, POS, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), and basic housekeeping / janitorial items.Work EnvironmentWork occurs in an office, a variety of off-site environments, and a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise levels, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens or chemicals.
