Eastern Oregon University (EOU) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Health Sciences (STMHS). The position of dean is a full-time, 12-month position and reports directly to the Provost and Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs.The Dean of the College of STMHS bears responsibility for all aspects of college operations. This includes strategic planning for the college as aligned with the mission, vision, goals, and core theme objectives of the university; staffing plans on an annual basis; scheduling for on-campus and alternative delivery models; managing and approving faculty load; overseeing budget preparation and management through college operations; handling informal and formal student complaints; and making decisions on the hiring of faculty and staff as well as making recommendations on the retention, promotion, and tenure of faculty.The Dean of the College of STMHS supervises and evaluates department chairs, teaching faculty, and the College Operations Manager within the college.The Dean of the College of STMHS works closely with other Deans and the Provost to support the academic enterprise of the University and to address the needs of the surrounding communities.ResponsibilitiesServes as the academic and administrative officer of the College of STMHS; formulates and implements strategies for long-term actions relevant to organizational goals, vision, and values.Provides leadership and direction for the College of STMHS; gains the understanding and alignment of program faculty with the goals and directions of the College as aligned with the Institution.Conducts college-wide strategic planning, aligned with institutional goals, objectives, and KPIs.Fosters an environment of high-quality teaching and intellectual achievement for disciplines within the College of STMHS.Oversees academic program planning, curricular review, and curricular approval process.Consults with the Provost on position vacancies and request for new positions.Interacts directly with faculty in annual and periodic evaluation, including post-tenure review.Develops partnerships within the College and across the University.Works collaboratively across the Colleges and various administrative divisions of the University.Oversees and guides the College of STMHS Operations Manager on college budgets, staffing, administrative matters, and project management.Processes student complaints at the informal and formal stages in alignment with institutional policy.Fosters collaboration and teamwork that inspires action; is respectful, inclusive, and supportive in supervisory role.Minimum Requirements:Must have attained the rank of Associate Professor with indefinite tenure and five (5) or more years of demonstrated academic leadership and commitment to student success at an undergraduate comprehensive university.Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States.Preferred Qualifications:Full Professor with indefinite tenure.Evidence for leadership in transformational undergraduate and graduate program development in both face-to-face and online modalities.Experience working with community leaders to establish effective partnerships and outcomes.Demonstrated civic engagement and community involvement.Existing scholarly record and support for various forms of scholarship.
