Eastern Oregon University (EOU) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Dean of the College of Science, Technology, Math, and Health Sciences (STMHS). The position of dean is a full- time, 12-month, position and reports directly to the Provost and Sr. Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Dean of the College of STMHS bears responsibility for all aspects of college operations. This includes strategic planning for the college as aligned with the mission, vision, goals, and core theme objectives of the university; staffing plans on an annual basis; scheduling for on-campus and alternative delivery models; managing and approving faculty load; overseeing budget preparation and management through college operations; handling informal and formal student complaints; and making decisions on the hiring of faculty and staff as well as making recommendations on the retention, promotion and tenure of faculty.
The Dean of the College of STMHS supervises and evaluates department chairs, teaching faculty, and the College Operations Manager within the college.
The Dean of the College of STMHS works closely with the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the Dean of the College of Business, the Dean of the College of Education, the Dean of the Library and the Provost to support the academic enterprise of the University and to address the needs of the surrounding communities. In the central focus of student success, all components of the Division of Academic Affairs work closely with the Division of Student Affairs to provide holistic support to all students, whether on campus or online.

EOU combines a strong emphasis on access and quality and offers excellent educational opportunities for residents of rural communities dispersed over the large geographical region of Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington, Idaho, and beyond. With a student body of nearly 3,000 students, about 1,400 students attend classes at the main campus in La Grande.
EOU was an early adopter of distance and online education and has been highly successful in delivering higher education to the many rural communities throughout the region, state, and country. Over half of all students matriculate beyond the boundaries of campus through its distance and online education courses. For students enrolled on-campus, EOU provides a learning environment that takes full advantage of updated classrooms and modern facilities including major capital projects, restoration of historic north campus, and new athletic field, track and indoor field house.
