Position Summary:The Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I) is seeking a director of finance. ACUHO-I is a professional association that serves a global membership of higher education institutions representing all types and sizes. Home to more than 17,000 professionals representing 1.2 million on-campus students from around the globe, ACUHO-I is the leading organization of choice for campus housing and residence life professionals because we enhance your work to continuously optimize on-campus student living environments.The director of finance is responsible for the financial and accounting operations for all ACUHO-I entities (ACUHO-I, ACUHO-I Management LLC and ACUHO-I Foundation) and affiliates, comprising a $9.2 million portfolio.Responsibilities:Planning effective internal controls and associated policies/procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data for ACUHO-I entities and affiliates.Developing and guiding the implementation of new and updated financial policies/procedures.Directing the process for the annual financial audit for ACUHO-I entities in cooperation with the independent audit firm.Designing and managing the annual budget process for ACUHO-I entities.Presenting financial information to executive leadership, board of trustees, and volunteer leaders.Strategically assessing and supervising business process improvements including current business systems and processes, and internal control structure, including assisting staff with understanding of financial reports.Managing and overseeing work of finance support staff, volunteer committees, including the foundation board finance committee and third-party vendors including providers of the financial management system and the association management system.Maintaining knowledge of current and changing IRS and GAAP rulings.Duties:50 percent: Directs financial and accounting operations for all ACUHO-I entities and affiliates; presents financial information to executive leadership, board of trustees and volunteer leaders; managing and overseeing work of finance support staff volunteer committees, including the Foundation board finance committee, and third-party vendors including providers of the financial management system and the association management system.20 percent: Plans appropriate internal controls and associated policies/procedures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data for ACUHO-I entities and affiliates; develops and guides the implementation of new and updated policies/procedures.20 percent: Designs and manages the annual budget process for ACUHO-I entities.10 percent: Directs the process for the annual financial audit for ACUHO-I entities in cooperation with the independent audit firm.Supervisory Responsibilities:Full-time staff: oneTemporary staff: oneRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.At least five (5) years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.Excellent Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat skills.Desired Qualifications:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.Experience in managerial capacity.Strong analytic skills, good written and verbal communication skills, a willingness to adapt to new business technologies/processes and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Excellent internal and external customer service skills.To Apply:The ACUHO-I Home Office is located in the Weiland Park neighborhood adjacent to The Ohio State University main campus.
