Elon University invites applications for a Director of Sponsored Programs position. The Director of Sponsored Programs will develop and implement a strategic vision and goals for the Office of Sponsored Programs, aligning the vision and goals with the University’s mission and priorities. They will provide organizational leadership for the OSP to ensure effective and efficient management of sponsored projects, coordinate the day-to-day activities of OSP and drive decisions, and offer outstanding customer service to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. The Director will seek professional development and growth opportunities for themselves and their staff. They will provide supervision and training to the Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs and work with the Assistant Director and Grants Accountant to ensure efficient management of grants from pre-award to closeout.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPartner with faculty and staff across all units of the university to develop and submit grant proposals to external funding agencies.Develop, implement, and improve policies and procedures for compliance with Uniform Guidance, federal, state, and local regulations related to sponsored programs, including staying abreast of changes in compliance and modifying institutional policies and procedures to ensure compliance.Serve as an authorized organization representative (AOR) in support of grant and contract applications and any necessary reports or documents connected with proposal submissions.Assess the effectiveness of research administration processes including benchmarking, tracking progress toward goals, and measuring outcomes.Special Skills or ExperienceThree years or more experience with pre- and post-award processes, including budget development and interpreting complex information and requirements in notices of funding opportunities.Experience working directly with staff and faculty stakeholders.Management, supervisory, or leadership experience (need not be in research administration).In-depth knowledge of federal agencies.Working knowledge of 2 CFR 200: Uniform Administrative Requirements for Federal Awards (“Uniform Guidance”).Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while coordinating multiple projects.Strong oral and written communication skills.Proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, online internal institutional systems, internet, and online calendar and email programs.Willingness to learn new skills and participate in professional development opportunities.Commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a positive, cooperative, productive work environment.We affirm that Elon University values and celebrates the diverse backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and perspectives of our community members.
