South Bend Education Foundation Executive Committee and SuperintendentBasic Function:The executive director is responsible for the overall administration and management of The Public Education Foundation, Inc., d/b/a the South Bend Education Foundation. Duties include development of current and additional revenue sources for the South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC), expanding community partnerships, seeking and writing grants, engaging with donors, and coordinating with other organizations seeking funds for SBCSC. Areas of responsibility include public relations, high-level strategic planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, personnel and fiscal management, and event planning/oversight and fundraising.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in Business, Communications, Finance, Marketing, or other related field, or at least 10 years of experience in developmentDemonstrated success and working knowledge of fundraising activities, including grants, donor cultivation, endowment creation and growth, annual gifts, and/or planned giving. Establish and secure strategic partners from corporations, foundations, and other sourcesConduct research into new funding opportunities and write grant proposals to foundations and corporations, providing regular communications, reporting, and records managementDemonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with partners, donors, and all levels of faculty and staffCreate and oversee donor databases, donor acknowledgments, and correspondenceExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speakingHighly motivated self-starter able to work independently, as well as part of a teamAttention to detail and ability to balance multiple tasks and competing needsUnderstanding of public school funding at the local, state, and federal levelsExcellent planning, organization, and facilitation skillsPassion for and understanding of public educationAssist in identifying and prioritizing strategic district funding needs in collaboration with the SBCSC, South Bend Alumni Association, faculty, staff, parent organizations, athletic organizations, and student groupsRepresent the Foundation in a consistently professional manner in a variety of settings, maintaining positive relations with funders, sponsors, public officials, volunteers, staff, community members, and the mediaDevelop and implement an annual comprehensive fundraising strategy, plan, and budget to meet projected funding needsOversee annual audit and 990 of FoundationEnsure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements, including proper fiscal record keeping, reporting, and oversightCollaborate with the SBCSC Director of Communications and others to market the district and maintain cohesive brandingResponsible for the supervision of Foundation support staff, including evaluations, development, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminationAssist Foundation board chair and all committee chairs in planning, agenda, and materials for committee meetingsCultivate and deepen relationships with established partnersTrack and regularly report progress toward achievement of strategic goals and key metricsOther duties as assignedPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
